Albert Einstein, a media icon from the 1920s, returns to the ETH Zurich campus as a lively digital avatar to inspire and engage new generations. Developed by a team led by computer science professor Markus Gross in collaboration with ETH spin-off Animatico, this interactive platform brings a younger, Zurich-based Einstein back to life in 3D, letting visitors converse with him about his life, student years, and friendships. Enhanced by real-time speech recognition and dynamic visualization, Einstein’s humorous responses are voiced by Swiss comedian Patrick Karpiczenko, bringing warmth and personality to the digital figure. Celebrating the centennial of Einstein’s Nobel Prize in Physics, the project aims to make theoretical physics engaging and accessible, particularly for young people, reinforcing ETH’s commitment to science education.
