Queen of the Night

Events & Expos

Queen of the Night, written by Randy Weiner, was a remarkable, immersive production infused with the spirit of Mozart's Magic Flute. Under the direction of Christine Jones and circus choreography by Shana Carroll, the show unfolded in a fully renovated space_ex- cinema within the Paramount Hotel in Times Square. This striking transformation created an environment of opulent spectacle, intensified by a playful, extravagant dining experience orchestrated by food artist Jennifer Rubell. At the heart of the design was a central stage, emerging from the old proscenium and anchored by a long corridor, with dining and audience seating thoughtfully arranged around it to deepen immersion. Seven adjoining rooms, each uniquely crafted to engage all five senses, added layers to the labyrinthine corridors, creating a daedal experience that blurred the boundaries between reality and fantasy.

As one of two core designers working under head designer Douglas Little, Ioannis Sochorakis was pivotal in bringing this vision to life, from conceptual ideation through to final execution. His responsibilities spanned detailed drafting, 3D modeling, material sourcing, partner coordination, and overseeing the construction process—ensuring each element stayed true to the bold, dynamic creative vision that defined Queen of the Night.
